Discovering Your Purpose: Embracing Telos and God's Ultimate Plan
Leading with Vision Series: Finding direction and meaning in a noisy world through a focus on God's plans.
In a world filled with noise and distractions, it can be easy to lose sight of what truly matters. But as people of faith, we have a beacon to guide us towards the light - our Telos, or God's ultimate purpose for our lives.
Telos is a Greek word that refers to the ultimate end or goal, and it provides a roadmap for our journey through this world. By orienting ourselves towards God's ultimate purpose, we can live with intention and meaning, knowing that our actions are aligned with His will.
God's ultimate purpose is to bring us into a loving relationship with Him, and to see us flourish in all aspects of our lives. He desires for us to live with joy, peace, and purpose, and to use our gifts and talents to make a difference in the world.
But how do we know what God's ultimate purpose is for our lives? The answer lies in scripture and in prayerful reflection. As we seek to know God and His will, He reveals His plans to us, giving us the clarity and direction we need to live with purpose.
For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." - Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Living with Telos requires us to let go of our own desires and ambitions, and instead surrender to God's plans. It means putting aside our fears, doubts, and insecurities, and trusting that God has a good plan for us.
By orienting ourselves towards God's ultimate purpose, we gain a sense of peace and joy, knowing that our lives have meaning and significance. And as we walk in His ways, we become a reflection of His love and grace to those around us, bringing light to a world that is often shrouded in darkness.
Telos is more than just a word or a concept - it is a call to action, a reminder that we were created for a purpose. So let us orient ourselves towards God's ultimate purpose, and live with intention, knowing that He is guiding us every step of the way.
